Your core documents

Valid passport

Valid at least three months beyond intended departure from the Schengen area. Check additional passport criteria with your consulate.

Visa application form

Use the destination consulate’s form and sign it as required.

Compliant photograph

Prepare a photo meeting the applicable ICAO specification.

Travel medical insurance

Cover required emergency care, hospitalisation and repatriation; confirm the policy meets your consulate’s criteria.

Purpose, accommodation and funds

Show why you are travelling, where you will stay, how you will pay and your intention to return.

Appointment and fingerprints

Biometrics are generally collected at submission; exemptions apply to specific applicants.
