Current Embassy fee from 1 July 2026. VFS service charges and any assistance fees are separate. India residents use an accredited agency / VFS route for eVisa. Check the Japanese mission responsible for your residence; eVisa eligibility and the submission process depend on jurisdiction.

Valid passport

Prepare your original passport and the copies requested by your local centre.

Visa application form

Complete the official form accurately and sign it as instructed.

Passport photograph

Use the current photo specification linked by your mission or visa centre.

Arrival and departure itinerary

Include intended flight or ship numbers and travel dates.

Evidence of travel funds

Income certificate, tax return, bank statement or balance certificate; confirm the period and format with your centre.

Day-by-day plan in Japan

List activities and accommodation names, addresses and contact details. MOFA does not require paid reservations for its general checklist.

For an eVisa, show the live visa issuance notice on your device with internet access at departure. A screenshot, printed copy or saved PDF is not accepted as that notice.
